With sales generated through intermediaries increasing by 200% over the last 12 months, specialist health insurer National Friendly has re-structured its broker channel to cater more specifically for growth and further develop sales.
To achieve this aim, the health insurer has promoted David Castling to the role of Intermediary Distribution Manager. Over the last 12 months, David has excelled in his role as Intermediary Consultant - Northern England, demonstrating the necessary expertise, passion and drive to head up a national intermediary team.
As Intermediary Distribution Manager, David will take responsibility for managing National Friendly’s national broker sales team. He will also develop existing business, secure new broker relationships to drive sales and increase growth across the channel.
David’s predecessor, Ian Talbot, has been promoted to Head of Commercial Distribution. With five years experience at National Friendly and more than 13 years in the insurance industry, Ian has the extensive specialist expertise required to fulfill this strategic role, which will see him head up the intermediary, direct to consumer and affinity sales activities.
Commenting on the re-structure, CEO of National Friendly, Richard Sear said: “Our sales through the broker channel are continuing to increase year on year and there is still plenty of potential for growth. To ensure that we continue with this upwards growth pattern, we needed to restructure to put the right people with the right expertise in the right place and David was the natural choice to task with managing the intermediary channel.
“Both David and Ian are experienced and highly valued members of the National Friendly team. In addition to exceptional knowledge of the industry, they have excellent relationships with our stakeholders and I am looking forward to seeing the fantastic results that I am confident they can deliver.”
