Local rugby team, the Merthyr Under 15’s, are kicking off the season in style with a new sponsorship deal from specialist health insurer National Friendly.
When Ian Talbot, head of commercial distribution at National Friendly, learned that the team from his home town was struggling to find funding for a new kit he knew that his employer would be keen to help.
The sponsorship has allowed the Merthyr Under 15’s to buy new training and playing kits and is a boost to the team’s confidence as they enter the new season.
Ian Talbot, who grew up in Merthyr, said: “At National Friendly, our commitment to supporting young people in the community is high on the agenda and I am pleased to be able to help the rugby team from my hometown through this donation. It is great to see our money put to good use through the new kit and I speak on behalf of all at National Friendly in wishing the team all the very best for the coming season.”
Under 15’s coach Matt Jacklin said: “Everyone involved in the under 15’s team would like to thank National Friendly for its sponsorship this season. It is great that a major company such as National Friendly can support the hard work the team put in and we hope we can repay them by getting some good results across the season.”
